Privacy & Peace
Chileno Beach is a favorite with snorkelers, boasting of clear, clean water, and lots of beautiful fish. A recent boardwalk addition and brand new cabanas offering shade make it quite comfortable. A sheltered place, there isn’t much wind, and you will enjoy collecting beautiful sea glass or catching the occasional glimpse of a whale out to sea. This beach is away from resort areas, with free security-patrolled parking, and a lifeguard on duty. There are no vendors nearby, so bring your own gear and snacks and enjoy the peace.
Pets Welcome
Santa Maria Beach is another good snorkeling spot in a sheltered bay with calm waters, good for beginners. Snorkeling cruises favor one side of the beach, but it is otherwise uncrowded. There are a few vendors. You’ll especially enjoy the fresh ceviche and beer, but it’s not too busy. Visitors to this beach enjoy its “wild” quality, since there are fewer rules to obey. It is a favorite with dog owners. There are no services in the area, but parking is available on the beach front.
Active Lifestyle
Medano Beach boasts of soft sand underfoot and lapping waves. Order a drink or some tasty food from a beach-front bar and have it delivered to your umbrella. This is a very popular beach, with great safe swimming and an wide variety of water sports available. The atmosphere is engaging and fun. If you are wishing for some privacy, simply go for a stroll along the beach. There are plenty of vendors to haggle with, but they are easily turned away with the phrase, “Gracias, no.”
Couples & Singles
Nikki Beach is often compared to the Miami Beach scene: hip, young, and high energy. It is very clean and upscale, with friendly, bilingual staff, and delicious food. There are magnificent views to enjoy from every vantage point. DJ music plays continuously, which contributes to the party atmosphere. This beach is near a hotel, but is available to the public, with only a five-minute walk to the Marina. It is not appropriate for families, but is very welcoming to couples and singles looking for fun.
